Major to Host Free Seminars July 21, 22 for Seniors on How to Protect Yourself Against Identity Theft
7/8/2010

State Rep. Sandra Major (R-Susquehanna/Wayne/Wyoming) is joining efforts with the attorney general’s office to provide two free seminars for interested seniors on how best to protect themselves from becoming victims of identity theft.

“Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the nation and senior citizens are often targeted,” said Major. “This seminar will make sure residents walk away armed with the information needed to better protect themselves from such a crime. I encourage area seniors to join us for a seminar that can help save you the money, good credit standing, time and aggravation that identity thieves often steal.”

Joyce O’Brien from the Office of the Attorney General will provide information on the latest tricks used by crooks, how to protect good credit and what to do if someone’s identity is stolen.

Two dates and locations are scheduled as follows: 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, at Lanesboro Senior Center, 600 Turnpike St., Susquehanna, and 10:45 a.m. to noon on Thursday, July 22, at Lenoxville Senior Center, Route 374, Clifford.

Seating is limited, so please R.S.V.P. by July 16 to Major’s office at (570) 278-3374.
